Cambodia’s PM, Hun Sen Visits to China

According to Khmer Times,  the president Xi Jinping of China has promised that China would buy 400,000 tonnes of rice from Cambodia this year. This is a pledge of China’s president towards Cambodia’s PM  when he visited to China. During the bilateral meeting between Cambodia’s Prime Minister, Samdech Hun Sen and China’s Xi in Beijing, it is seen as the Cambodia’s PM visit to China is to express international community as Cambodia does not have isolation in the region and global. 

The Beijing’s administration will increase the quota of rice import from Cambodia in 2019 and boost the bilateral trade between the both countries to $ 10 billion by 2023.

In the bilateral meeting between the both leaders in Beijing in last time, China’s president Xi Jinping would give Cambodia Chinese Yuan $ 4 billion or $ 600 million, from 2019 to 2021. 

The relation between Cambodia and China is regarded by both leaders as it is an important and a special relationship, and they would go on to work together and cooperate both politics, economy, and security, and between people and people.

China’s president Xi Jinping pledged towards PM Hun Sen’s face in Beijing as China will buy rice more and more from Cambodia happened when the European Commission imposed tariffs on rice imports from Myanmar and Cambodia. 

Note that over a period of three years, the commission has made a decision to reintroduce import duties, which would be steadily reduced. During the first year, 175 euros ($199.5) per tonne will be levied, 150 euros ($171) in the second year, and 125 euros ($142.5) in the last (Khmer Times, 2019).
