What is Realism?

Theory: Realism
What is Realism?

Realism refers to an approach to international relations based on the premise that  human human beings are basically weak, corruptible, and with an insatiable drive for power. Since the international arena is characterized by anarchy without a recognized government to keep order, states must look out for their own interests according to a worst case scenario. This means building up a strong military( W.Raymond Duncan, Barbaran Jancar-Webster, and Bob Switky, 2001).
